This huge brass ship's bell is emblazoned with the royal insignia of King George VI, who reigned during the Second World War. It is a beautiful piece of design following function, as it was made for very real wartime purposes: both as a vital part of a ship's safety equipment, and as a symbol to boost the crew's morale.

The bell has a beautiful patina and shows the care that the Royal Navy took to keep it looking its best in service and since, and comes with its original clapper and decorative rope. This bell is large and heavy, and when sounded will give a loud report to any other seafarers within a few nautical miles.

The diameter of the bell at its widest is 24.3cm. It is 26cm high. It weighs 9.5 kilos.
