A stylish Robert St John Roper costume sketch, framed and glazed, created for London's "Top of the Town" theatre restaurant, which resided in the Hippodrome theatre, re-opened to great fanfare in 1958 as a dining venue with performances. This original costume sketch features an ornate costume for singers.

Robert St. John Roper was a prolific theatre costume designer throughout the 40s and 50s, and worked on numerous productions at the Windmill Theatre, the Prince of Wales Theatre, and the London Palladium, and Talk of the Town. As well as designing many costumes for Talk of the Town, he was also involved in the interior design of the venue.

This is a an original sketch on paper, framed, matted and glazed. Frame is in original vintage condition with glazing intact.
